Something New at Windmill View

From 2D Logo to 3D Landmark

There is always something deeply satisfying about seeing a design step out off the screens and into the physical world. I’m delighted to share a recent collaboration with Homes England, where I had the privilege of designing the brand identity and logo for Windmill View, a landmark new housing development located at Upper Lighthorne in Warwickshire.

The Brief & Concept

The challenge was to create a visual identity that felt fresh, optimistic, and rooted in the history and geography of the area. Taking inspiration from the local heritage of Upper Lighthorne - specifically the iconic Chesterton Windmill; the final logo concept plays on movement, energy, and community.

The primary mark combines clean geometric forms with a vibrant color palette, designed to evoke a sense of modern living while honouring the natural landscape.

Bringing the Design to Life

While seeing a brand identity launch across digital platforms and print collaterals is always exciting, this project came with an extra special surprise.

Homes England took the core icon of the Windmill View logo and physically brought it to life, transforming it into a striking, colourful monument at the development.

Watching a concept that started as vectors on a screen turn into a multi-dimensional structure that people can actually walk up to, touch, and experience in real life is incredible. It serves not just as a piece of public art, but as a vibrant welcome marker for everyone who will eventually call Windmill View home.

Moving Forward

Projects like this are a great reminder of why I love design - it’s not just about aesthetics on a display, but about shaping spaces, creating identity, and building a sense of place.

A huge thank you to Ragu Sittambalam and the team at Homes England for the fantastic collaboration and to Art Fabrications for taking the vision above and beyond the screen.
